Jennifer Davison
Jennifer Davison was born in Ohio, USA, and has performed on stages in Europe, the US, Asia and the South Pacific for over 25 years. A producer and director of numerous concert and opera productions, she has also been an active music educator for more than 3 decades. Her work with companies like the Wiener Festwochen, the Theater an der Wien, the Neue Oper Wien, and the Ensemble Wiener Kollage, solidified her artistic home in Vienna. She is currently co-artistic director of the project “Aufatmen- ein freudvolles Atem und Musik Programm for Long Covid Betroffene” and is leading the development of this program for children and youth from age 10-18. With Dr. Matthew Pelowski and the ARTIS lab at the University of Vienna, she is currently researching the effects of short arts engagement in digital media on issues such as emotional regulation, wellbeing, and craving. Together with her collaborative partner and fellow soprano Bea Robein, she is building the start-up “ArtWave”, whose mission is to facilitate and create artistic projects with a focus on human health, wellbeing and flourishing. In May 2022 she was chosen as a delegate for the Arts and Health Early Career Research Network Intensive in Suffolk, England where she studied with Dr. Daisy Fancourt and Jill Sonke, the two leading pioneers of the Arts and Health movement in the UK and USA. In 2022-23 she is singing on tour with the Arts for Health Verein Austria in the program “Kunst trifft Gesundheit” as well as performances of the children’s opera “GOLD!” an interactive piece exploring big questions of climate change with children in schools and with their families.
